In 2025, the Academy promotes a comprehensive program of masterclasses under the guidance of the charismatic and experienced conductor Luis Miguel Clemente. With a methodology carefully oriented to meet the individual needs of each participant, this program guarantees a personalized and enriching learning experience.

Through the exploration of technical and musical aspects of major works from the orchestral repertoire, our program's approach and work philosophy provides a high-impact training experience to support conductors' aspirations as artists and performers. The program includes:

  • In-depth theoretical study of conducting technique (Musin/Metters)

  • Phenomenological study of gesture

  • Rehearsal technique

  • Score study

  • Motivational critical discussion

  • Dedicated and personalized mentorship

  • Holistic technical and artistic development

In addition to the masterclass program, we will also incorporate workshops and seminars led by renowned professionals. These supplementary sessions enrich the conducting experience with valuable insights and practical strategies for successful career. They encourage innovation and creativity in orchestral conducting.

A message from maestro Luis Miguel Clemente

As Director of the Atlantic Coast Orchestra Conducting Academy, I am excited to embark on another annual masterclass program. This program plays a vital role in the technical and artistic development of conductors, offering them a comprehensive and profound understanding of the art and craft of orchestral conducting, and preparing them to confidently face professional challenges.

I am convinced that this program will foster a new generation of talented and well-prepared conductors, capable of tackling the demands of the contemporary musical world with excellence and creativity. It is an honor to contribute to the professional growth of conductors, helping them to transform their potential into outstanding artistic achievements. Together, we will build a promising future for orchestral conducting, valuing the artistry and dedication that each conductor brings to the stage.

- Luis Miguel Clemente

The four masterclasses will take place between March and November 2025 in Portugal, the cities of Porto (masterclass 1,2 and 3) and Vila do Conde (masterclass 4). The program culminates with the IX Atlantic Coast Conducting Masterclass & Competition), which provides a realistic, competitive and high-quality professional experience.

For a more comprehensive and enriching learning experience, we encourage conductors to enroll in all four masterclasses, thus maximizing their progress. However, recognizing individual needs and interests, each masterclass has been designed as an independent unit, allowing participants to join any of them separately.
