This concert offers a musical journey through three centuries of Portuguese symphonic music full of sonic contrasts. Sérgio Azevedo's Giocosa Overture surprises with its contagious rhythms and bold harmonies. This is followed by Divertimento n.o 1 by Joly Braga Santos, one of the greatest names in 20th century Portuguese music, a work that surprises with its almost mysterious energy, the enormous technical and artistic challenges it poses to the musicians and the apotheotic and absolutely extraordinary finale.

Finally, on a more classical-romantic note, Bomtempo's grandiose Symphony No. 2. The new musical transcription and critical edition of this symphony by Ekletica, under the guidance of conductor Luis Miguel Clemente, will be heard in its world premiere.
